I grew up in a desert town most haven't heard of in Southern California called Moreno Valley. Summers were, very, very hot there. My parents were always living inside their humble means which meant that, in the summer time, if we wanted to be somewhere air conditioned, we had to go somewhere public or stand in front of the open freezer door (which also wasn't well received). All this, simply because the cost of electricity was so high that we couldn't run the AC. One summer day, with the outside temperature around 109 degrees Fahrenheit, I went to my best friend's house (both 12 years old at the time), walked inside an it was a cool 71 degrees! Promptly asking him how it was possible his parents let him turn it on that low. He said, "my Dad put these things on the roof and he turns the AC to that all the time", enamored, I went outside and saw, for the first time in my life, "Magic on a roof". His parents had installed solar panels. Years and many jobs later, I found myself still enamored by solar. I decided that I needed to be apart of the thing that has kept my attention for so long, and join the solar industry. My father has always been an entrepreneur, never having a regular "9 to 5" in his life, and always taught me that if you didn't work hard/smart and treat people right, then life would have its own way with you. With over 2 megawatts of deployed solar, just in residential installs, and hundreds of happy clients later, here I am, helping the people of Northern California "Go Solar" everyday.
